A rack PDU (Power Distribution Unit) is designed to facilitate effective control over electricity distribution with racks. There are two types of rack PDU; intelligent and non-intelligent.
NextGen Solutions & Services offer consultation on PDU networking. We can recommend the right rack mount PDU or vertical PDU with various outlet configurations available to accommodate the equipment being installed.
Power Distribution Units
Non-intelligent units provide a basic PDU power strip that ensures the correct current and voltage are distributed to the rack’s IT equipment. Monitored power distribution units have visual displays for the static viewing of information.
Intelligent metered outlets provide information locally or over a secure network. These enable managers to view power consumption at a server and device level, which is essential for allocating costs to individual data centre clients. Metered input models help managers calculate power usage effectiveness and prevent circuit overloading.
Intelligent switched rack power distribution units have power on and power off functionality for specific outlets and increase remote functionality. This helps the data centre minimise risks such as inrush currents and facilitates the powering off idle units to reduce costs and the centre’s environmental footprint.
Our Rack PDU Solutions
Our solutions for PDU data centers include:
ServerTechnology 1U Metered PDU: This unit provides reliable power distribution and aids safe loading levels on a per-phase basis. The PDU helps IT personnel install new equipment in cabinets and racks, and many unique models are offering local LED input current monitoring.
ServerTechnologies 0U Smart PDU local LED: This PDU offers input current monitoring, and bill-grade current, active power, apparent power, voltage, accumulated energy, power factor, and crest factor measuring. Optional temperature and humidity sensors present information through CLI, SNMP, or Web interfaces. The unit effectively prevents daisy-chain linking configurations.
Raritan 0U Monitored and Switched Rack PDU: This is a 12 outlet power distribution unit for server racks with bill-grade energy metering. The model features overcurrent protectors and remote networks, and environmental monitoring. Incorporating up to 32 sensors with support breaker metering, alarming, and cascading to 16 PDUs using a single USB or Ethernet connection, this is an advanced PDY. The Raritan 2U Monitored and Switched Rack PDU provides a 30 outlet solution.
TrippLite 1U Single-Phase Switched PDU, LX Platform Interface: This is a single-phase Tripp Lite PDU with advanced monitoring and network control. Managers can turn off, turn on, lockout, or recycle power to individual units. The solution allows remote operators to reboot unresponsive hardware, monitor output consumption, prevent inrush overloads, and lockout unused rack PDU outlets.
TrippLite OU Single-Phase Switched PDU with LX Platform Interface: This model offers remote power monitoring and network control, power consumption management, balanced loads, reboot or lockout, and the ability to turn on and turn off each outlet to reduce on-site visits.
Our rack PDU solutions are available across the UK and Europe. We provide consultative services to help data centre’s achieve business models and enhance their financial effectiveness.
From supplying Legrand Servertech or Raritan switched rack PDUs to environmental management, airflow management, racks and power solutions, and cabling infrastructure, we have the knowledge and expertise to save costs, maximise uptime, and prevent outages in edge facilities and large scale data centres.
