NextGen’s Story

The Founders of NextGen met in Finland on a large Data Centre build in 2014. We were working ‘on the tools’ as self employed cabling installation technicians.

We came up with this business name while we were working abroad while we were completing the first phase on a project in a Data Center. We had been cabling in the primary containment for the first phase and we firmly believed we would be the company going back for phase 2 to install the cabling on the ‘Generation 2 baskets’ – “NextGen”.

This 2nd phase was actually an influential factor in choosing the name of our business, it’s significance is to convey our values and how we work are new, different and immeasurably better, with significant advancements in specific capabilities.

From working abroad we all continued to work together in the industry back in the UK and were busy from day one. This is where we decided that we would form a new business together – NextGen Communications.

We fast began to see the potential for growth and started to employ junior subcontractors to assist us on the installations. Growing faster and bigger than we could imagine we were soon asked to go to the Netherlands to assist in the deployment of another Hyperscale Data Centre. We were also asked to train another firm on site to meet the high installation criteria set out by the end user. Something the NextGen founders knew inside out.

During this time in Holland, we also had one of the founders asked to travel as far as Singapore and Taiwan to assist in training of local teams in the efficient and superior quality installations we had implemented in the European deployments.

We left The Netherlands in late 2017 and it was a scary moment when we returned to London (our home), as work wasn’t so abundant. It was at this point that we decided to strategically invest our time in the UK and build relationships here. This is where we belonged and we were all about investing in partnerships and creating lasting relationships.

In July 2018 A new member joined the team, Damon Jenkins and brought with him a wealth of experience and commercial knowledge.

The team has grown from strength to strength since then and has resulted in the formation of a new business and exciting partnerships.
